Understand
Listen first: understand the business, its ambitions, pressures and immediate priorities.
Rooted in a trusted chartered accountancy practice, built for what businesses need next.

SOAR’s story began long before the name existed.
On 1 January 1966, Peter Butters founded Butters & Company at 129 High Street in Teddington. Rarely seen at business events, he became affectionately known locally as “The Phantom”, yet behind the scenes he built something enduring: a practice known for trusted advice and exceptional personal service.

Six decades later, Peter is still involved in the day-to-day life of the practice, and the practice passed through the family before his grandson Ben, a third-generation Chartered Accountant, took on its next chapter.

SOAR carries forward the trusted financial foundations of a traditional accountancy practice while bringing accountancy, business strategy and sustainability together: helping businesses understand where they stand today, make better decisions, respond to change and build lasting resilience.
Still proudly rooted in Teddington and committed to the community around it, SOAR is an evolution of a family tradition, not a departure from it.
See clearly. Think ahead. Act with confidence.

Ben Horn
ACA FRGS, Founder & CEO
Ben is a third-generation Chartered Accountant and sustainability adviser whose work brings together financial understanding, commercial strategy and long-term resilience.
Ben founded SOAR to give businesses a more joined-up kind of advice; combining the rigour of accountancy with strategic thinking and a practical, holistic approach to sustainability. His focus is not simply on reporting or meeting expectations, but on helping organisations understand risk, recognise opportunity and build stronger businesses for the future.
Approachable, commercially minded and firmly rooted in the family tradition of trusted personal advice, Ben believes that better decisions build more resilient businesses.
